Threats to Koi Fish

If you fish become sick, you may want to see whether or not they have contracted a bacterial, viral, fungal or parasitic illness. Thankfully, most illnesses can be treated with antibiotics.
As far as the other threats to Koi fish go you may find that your fish are being attacked by a predator. Birds, cats, ducks, and other fish will all attack your fish. Since they are swimming in an enclosed pond, they are natural targets for bigger animals. In order to keep your fish safe, be sure that the pond is deep enough for them to hide in, include a small fish castle at the bottom of the pond where they can hide, and place a large plastic bird decoy next to the pond to scare other birds away.
